Arrest made in Alfred University armed robbery

Alfred Police Chief Paul Griffith this evening said an arrest has been made following an armed robbery early today on the Alfred University campus. University police issued this text alert: At approximately 1a.m. this morning the victim was sitting in his vehicle parked in the Tefft/Reimer area when two black males approached his vehicle and asked for him to roll down his window. At this time, the two suspects brandished a gun and demanded the victims wallet and the victim complied. The suspects ran west towards the Olin Building.
In a press statement issued this evening, Chief Griffith provided this information:
Details of the Incident: Kashawn Pettway, 18, of Buffalo, was taken into custody after an incident on the Alfred University campus this morning. He was charged with felony counts of robbery 2nd, grand larceny 4th and menacing. It was reported that Pettway allegedly approached a vehicle parked near Tefft Hall on the campus and used a weapon to forcibly take money from a male victim. An intensive investigation ensued with collaboration between the Alfred University Office of Public Safety, Alfred Village Police Department, Alfred State University Police and the New York State Police. During the investigation a Crossman 1911BB gun was recovered in Pettways room on the Alfred State Campus.
We also would like to thank the Information Technology Services departments for both campuses in their assistance in the investigation.  
Arraigned in court, Pettway was remanded to the Allegany County Jail. Bail was set at $10,000 cash.
