Wellsville: Ted Crowell - "You always put others before yourself"

During a thirty-minute ceremony Monday afternoon in the legislative chambers in Belmont honoring the 41-year career of Allegany County Coroner Ted Crowell, there were stories, laughs and some tears. Crowell, who first sought office in 1978, is retiring at the end of this year. He is one of the longest serving coroner's ever in Allegany County. Accolades were offered by Legislative Chair Curt Crandall, representatives from the state senate, assembly, congressman Tom Reed and personal thoughts from County Historian Craig Braack and Treasurer Teri Ross. One speaker told Crowell, "you always put others before yourself." Braack described working with Ted when he was an EMT. As he closed his remarks, his voice choked as he said thank you.
In a room filled with family, friends and government officials, Ted was humbled. He called his years of service an honor. As he ended his remarks, he broke down as he thanked his wife for standing by his side for the many years. Here as some scenes from the ceremony:
