Allegany County Citizens Join National John Lewis Day of Action – “Good Trouble Lives On” the Local Event will Focus on Medicaid and Will Create Awareness About Possible Cuts
Allegany County, NY — On Thursday, July 17, community members in Allegany County will join Americans at hundreds of events nationwide to honor the legacy of Congressman John Lewis and fight back against the growing attacks on our civil and human rights.
The local action in Angelica, NY is part of Good Trouble Lives On — a nationwide day of peaceful, nonviolent action rooted in the legacy of the civil rights movement and inspired by John Lewis’ call to make “good trouble, necessary trouble.”
Participants will gather to demand that cuts to Medicaid be fought, mitigated by the State and County, and cancelled. Medicaid is a vital, public program. As a rural community, great harm is expected should these cuts come about.
Local organizers, invite press to attend, capture, and uplift the voices of those taking peaceful action in defense of democracy. Local organizers are happy to set up an interview a local Medicaid participant. Organizers have twice gone to the local county Legislature to both educate and to ask them for harm prevention. They specifically asked the Legislature to send a Resolution to the NY Congressional Delegation.
