Constance E. Stone “beloved mother, grandmother, and sister”
CLARA, PA---Constance E. “Connie” Stone, 91, of Clara, passed away in her home with her loving daughter by her side on Sunday, March 23, 2025, after a short illness.
Born on Sunday, February 4, 1934 in Wellsville, NY, she was a daughter of Ronald A. and Gertrude E. Stilson Pierce. On April 26, 1953 in the Genesee United Methodist Church, she married Robert E. “Bob” Stone, who passed away on March 16, 2017.
Connie was a graduate of Genesee (PA) High School. She was a member of the Shinglehouse United Methodist Church where she had served as a Sunday School teacher and had also been a youth leader. Connie was an avid reader. She loved to cook and bake for her family.
Left to cherish her memory are three children, Gary A. (Linda) Stone of Galeton, Patti A. Stone of Clara, and James E. (Laurie) Stone of Milton; five grandchildren, Stephanie L. Schott, Shane A. Stone, Joshua J. Stone, Lacey C. Stone, and Matthew R. Stone; five great-grandchildren, Mikayla Schott, Makenna Schott, Caydon Stone, Kylee Stone, and Sophia Stone; a sister, Patricia M. (Donald) Hyde of Shinglehouse; a dear sister-in-law, Jackie Pierce of Pittsfield, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Connie was predeceased by three brothers, Dennis Pierce, Richard Pierce, and Dale Pierce.
In keeping with Connie’s wishes there will be no public visitation. Private funeral services will be held in the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, with Pastor Fred Kemp of the Potter County Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Rathbone Cemetery, Coneville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Connie’s name may be made to the Oswayo Valley Memorial Library, PO Box 188, Shinglehouse, PA 16748; to the Shinglehouse Volunteer Ambulance Association, PO Box 98, Shinglehouse, PA 16748; or to the Coudersport Volunteer Ambulance Association, PO Box 651, Coudersport, PA 16915.
Connie’s family has entrusted her care to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, PA.
