Wellsville: Fire damages Florida Avenue home
There was a quick and multi-agency response when flames and smoke were spotted pouring from a home on Florida Avenue late Sunday morning. Wellsville Fire Chief Barney Dillie said the active fire was limited to a single room, although smoke filled the single story home. Barney said the crews made a "good knock-down." The blaze was noticed around 11 a.m. at 2884 Florida Avenue. County tax records show the home is owned by Charles and Evelyn Bowser. The home was empty when the flames broke out. Town Code Enforcement Officer Rob Marsh responded to the scene and said the home was still livable. Dillie said an Allegany County Fire Investigation Team responded to the scene. The cause remains under review.
