BELMONT - Victor L. Whitney, 86, passed away on Tuesday,
March 10, 2020 at home in Belmont. He was born January 16, 1934, the son of the
late Victor C. and Gladys (Beckwith) Whitney.
He was known by several names depending on how you knew him.
“Vic” “Whit” or “LeRoy” was a mechanic at Felix Motors in Belmont for many
years, and later worked for the Town of Amity Highway Dept., and retired from
the New York State Department of Transportation. He was a veteran of the U.S.
Army, former member and past assistant chief of the Belmont Volunteer Fire
Department, and a former member of the Bolivar Lions Club. He was an avid
NASCAR fan and, in his youth, raced stock cars in Angelica and Cuba.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann (Radley) Whitney, a
son, Michael L. Whitney of Angelica, two brothers, Rick (Lois) Whitney of
Bolivar, and Larry “Butch” (Ruth) Whitney of Wellsville, as well as several
step children, step grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased in addition
to his parents, by his first wife, Dolores “Dee” (Goth) Whitney, a sister and
brother-in-law, Beverly and Thomas Harding Sr., and a sister-in-law, Janet
Whitney.
At Victor's request, there was no prior visitation or
service. Burial was in Forest Hills Cemetery. Please consider memorial
