Livingston County: Temporary Suspension of Jail Visitation

GENESEO: Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty advises the cancellation of Livingston County Jail inmate visitations and non-essential service related contact visits. The safety of our inmates, visitors and our members remains a priority. As severe respiratory illness outbreaks continue to evolve and spread globally (eg: RSV, Influenza, Severe Upper and Lower Respiratory Illness and Coronavirus), the Sheriff and our Command Staff has worked in conjunction and coordination of the Livingston County Department of Health Department and is closing contact visitation at this time.
To that end all inmate visits and non-essential programming has been cancelled until further notice. Essential (legal and pastoral) visits will be handled in non-contact visit rooms.
While the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office values the visitation as an important part of rehabilitation this decision has been made to protect the health and wellness of all those who reside and work within the correctional facility.
Inmates, their friends and their family are encouraged to use video visitation and phone services that are available as this temporary directive is in place.
