Gov. Cuomo bans gatherings of more than 500 people in New York state

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Thursday that the state would ban all gatherings of 500 or more people. The announcement could massively affect concerts, sporting events and more scheduled in New York City and throughout the state and could carry major financial consequences. Under the state’s new guidance, New York State will ban most gatherings of more than 500 people. Small gatherings would still be permitted, but venues that hold fewer than 500 people would be required to reduce their occupancy by half.
