Fire causes heavy damage to Town of Willing home - corrected

A Town of Willing home sustained heavy damage in a fire Saturday evening. Just before 6 p.m., Willing firefighters were dispatched to a house fire at 940 Stone Dam Road. As a chief officer approached the scene, he told 911 "we've got heavy smoke showing," from the two-story colonial-type home. A short time later, a chief said the house was "fully involved," and said the home was in the woods with limited access over a private bridge. Additional crews and equipment were called in from Alma, Genesee (PA), Andover, Scio stations 1 and 2 with Wellsville providing standby coverage. Reports from the scene indicated the fire spread to a secondary building. The fire was declared under control at 7:40 p.m. The Red Cross was alerted to respond and assist one adult male. County tax records show the property is owned by Scott Ludka, Jr. of Coudersport. An Allegany County Fire Investigation Team was called to the scene to determine the cause and origin of the blaze.
