Allegany County Legislature estblishes a trail & outdoor recreation advisory committee

On Monday, the Allegany County Legislature approved the following resolution:

ESTABLISHMENT OF TRAILS AND OUTDOOR RECREATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE TO ADVISE PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE ON FOSTERING THE DEVELOPMENT OF A COUNTY-WIDE TRAIL SYSTEM 

Offered by: Planning & Economic Development Committee 

Pursuant to County Law § 235 

            RESOLVED: 

            1.         There is hereby established a Trails and Outdoor Recreation Advisory Committee to consist of eleven members to be appointed by and serve at the pleasure of the Allegany County Board of Legislators until a successor is appointed. 

2.         That such committee shall serve in an advisory capacity to the Planning and Development Committee of the County Board of Legislators in relation to the development, planning, and administration of a county-wide trail system that includes motorized and non-motorized trails while striving to ensure that the trails and natural areas we share are sustainable and accessible for all to enjoy for generations to come. 

3.         That it shall be the duty of the advisory committee to meet and consult with and advise the Planning and Development Committee, the County Administrator, the Director of Planning, and such other officers and department heads as directed by the County Administrator.
 

4.         That the initial goals of such Committee shall be to provide input on:           

A.  The development of a county-wide recreation plan 

            B.  Increasing recreational opportunities within Allegany County 

            C.  Creation of county-wide interconnecting trails 

D. Connection with neighboring counties’ trails systems to create a  regional system 

5.         Pursuant to law, such Committee shall have no powers other than advisory. 

6.         That the members of such Committee shall serve without compensation.
