On Wednesday, January 22, 2020 Cornell Cooperative Extension of Allegany County in conjunction with the Southwestern NY Dairy, Livestock and Field Crops Team will be hosting the Southern Tier Crop Congress at the Belfast Fire Hall – Belfast, NY from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Attendees will have an opportunity to hear about recent updates in field crop and forage production, as well as speak with industry representatives about the newest products on the market as we look into the 2020 growing season. Topics for this meeting will include: Insect identification and control in corn and soybean production systems in NY with
Mike Stanyard, Field Crops Specialist NWNY Dairy, Livestock Field Crops Team; Field crop disease update and management options of current diseases with Gary Bergstrom, Plant Pathologist at Cornell University; Keeping long term hay fields productive - Dan Steward, Western NY Crop Management; and Palmer amaranth management options - Josh Putman, Field Crops Specialist with SWNY Team.
DEC and CCA credits are available. Lunch and refreshments will be provided with registration. Fee is $20.00 per person for farms enrolled in CCE and pre-registered by January 15th. Those not enrolled with pre-registration pay $25.00 per person. Late or walk-in registrations $30.00 per person.
