Fire sirens pierced the nighttime air of a generally peaceful Wellsville neighborhood Friday night. Around 9:20 p.m. county dispatch sent Wellsville firefighters, EMS, a FAST team and a ladder truck from Genesee, Pennsylvania to the scene of a reported house fire at 95 Seneca Street. The house is located just before the rear entrance to Riverwalk Plaza in Wellsville. First on scene was fire chief Michael "Barney" Dillie who reported "smoke in the residence...two and a half stories, single frame, wood dwelling." Two people who were inside the home were transported to Jones Memorial Hospital with unspecified concerns. Fire crews remains on scene for the better part of the late evening. The cause remains under investigation. According to Allegany County tax records, the owners are Robert and Jean Armstrong.
According to a Facebook post, Timothy Armstrong said "we are back from the hospital and the house is fine. 30+year old microwave is the cause...thanks for all the concerns and prayers."
