Absentee ballots flip flop primary results for Amity town Justice - Stack declared winner

A new winner has been declared in the Republican primary for Amity Town justice. The Allegany County Board of Elections confirmed this morning that the official winner was Dennis Stack. He defeated David Gorminiak by a vote of 133-124. When the polls closed on June 25th, Gorminiak had a one vote lead. The Board of Elections says no candidate has filed on any other party line, giving Stack a likely confirmation victory in November. Election officials in Belmont did say Stack could be challenged, however, by a write-in campaign.
Incumbent Justice Steven Presutti, who has held the post since about 1980, announced previously he would not seek re-election. No other races were altered after absentee ballots were counted.
