Scio: Fire destroys garage, multiple vehicles

An early morning fire in Scio gutted a larger service garage and destroyed several vehicles. Scio fire chief Jim Ames said the 24 foot by 80 foot garage was 'basically destroyed." The alarm rang in around 1:30 a.m. today and sent firefighters to an area near 5780 Drum Road. The garage was fully engulfed in flames with two homes located within 20 to 50 feet. Chief Ames said those homes were not damaged and credited the "quick response from Allentown firefighters for keeping damage from spreading." Ames said two cars, a truck, some motorcycle's and some equipment were all destroyed. Ames said "the cause of the fire was undetermined...but was not considered suspicious."
Assisting Scio and Allentown at the scene - Wellsville ambulance, Wellsville fire, Bolivar, Richburg and Shinglehouse. There were no injuries. The active fire was brought under control within 45 minutes. Fire crews remained on scene until around 6:30 a.m. today. The building was owned by Christopher Graves. Chief Ames said the building was once called the "Joe Collins auto repair shop."
