Marilou L.
Filips “beloved sister, aunt and
friend”
BRADFORD, PA---Marilou L. Filips, 70, of Bradford, formerly
of Ceres, NY, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 3, 2024, in Sweden
Valley Manor, Coudersport, after a long fought illness as her family surrounded
her.
Born on June 13, 1954, she was a daughter of the late
Kenneth Sr. “Baldy” and Erla Mae Robbins Herzog. She was affectionately known to many as
“Toot” or “Red”.
Marilou married Richard Filips on July 7, 1978 who
predeceased her in January of 2002. She
later married Alex Nemeth on May 22,
2021, who recently passed away in July.
For several years, Marilou was employed at the John
MacDonald store in Ceres, NY. After the
store closed she worked in the dietary department of the Olean General Hospital
where she was employed for many years before leaving due to her health.
Marilou had a passion for collecting and her home was always
adorned with her little treasures, especially during the holidays. Her greatest joys came from caregiving and
spending time with her friends and family
while often engaging in long conversations.
She was known for her kind heart and open door. She will be deeply
missed by all who knew her.
Even though Marilou never had children of her own, she
raised her niece, Anita Schimp, as her own daughter. She is survived by her sister, Rose (Ronald)
Carlson; five nieces, Robin (Corey) Smith, Danae (Dennis) Babcock, Anita
Schimp, Faith Herzog, and Heidi Schimp; three nephews, Kenneth (Barbra) Herzog,
Michael (Emily) Carlson, and Chad Carlson; and several grandnieces and
grand-nephews.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Kenneth Herzog Jr. and
Richard Herzog.
A memorial service will be
scheduled at a later date.
Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials in Marilou’s name may be made to
NFLB-McKean County, PO Box 783, Bradford, PA 16701.
Marilou’s family entrusted her care and cremation
arrangements to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L.
