Alfred State: 2024 Police Academy graduates honored

The Alfred State Police Academy honored the sixth class of graduates at a ceremony held at Lake Lodge. The class featured fourteen graduates from both phases of the Police Academy and four graduates of Phase I. 

“Each year I am impressed and proud of the hard work and dedication that these graduates put in, “commented Academy Director Scott Richardson. “The graduates of the Police Academy endured months of training to be ready to enter the workforce. These graduates will immediately take the knowledge and skills they learned and start making a difference in the communities they will be working in.” 

County Sheriff’s Scott Cicirello (Allegany County) and James Allard (Steuben County) delivered messages to the cadets. ASC President Dr. Steve Mauro was the keynote speaker while Class Leader Daniel Evans spoke on behalf of the cadets. 

Richardson and Assistant Director Chief Kyle Amidon recognized each of the graduates.

Derek McCumiskey – Hornell Police Department 

Andrew Schumaker – Gowanda Police Department

Richardson continued. “The success of this program is fueled by the support of local law enforcement agencies and the Police Academy Advisory Committee. The knowledge and instruction they bring to our cadets is invaluable.”
