City of Olean Fire Department Press
Release
129 South 2nd Street Fire
Olean Fire units were dispatched at 2:32 p.m. Saturday for a confirmed
structure fire with possible occupants trapped. All units arrived within 2
minutes of the dispatch and found that all the occupants had made it out of the
structure safely. Crews stretched a handline to a 2nd floor bedroom
and extinguished the bulk of the fire. They performed overhaul and extinguished
hidden fire in the outside wall and soffit. Additional handlines were in place
to prevent fire from extending in to the neighboring home, which did suffer
minor heat damage. Code Enforcement was on scene and posted the home. The cause
of the fire is under investigation by the Olean City Fire Investigation Team.
Additional units on scene were Trans Am Ambulance, Weston
Mills Ambulance and Portville Fire Department Air Truck.
“Love Thy Neighbor” was called to scene to assist with the
displaced occupants of the structure.
The City of Olean Fire Department would like to remind all citizens to dial 911 in the case of a fire and not to try and extinguish even a small fire themselves before doing so.
