Cuba Police Chief issues statement on casino incident

On Monday, October 14th, 2024, at approximately 11:34 AM, officers of the Cuba Police Department were dispatched to a report of an armed robbery at the Seneca Oil Springs Casino near Cuba Lake. Although it turned out not to be an armed robbery, it was still a dangerous situation. I would like to take this opportunity to publicly commend our staff and the security staff for their bravery in responding to the incident. Our officers arrived at the scene within 3 minutes of the original dispatch, demonstrating their preparedness for such situations. Thankfully, these kinds of incidents are rare, but when they do occur, our staff responds without hesitation. I am confident that if another similar situation arises, our staff will once again respond swiftly and competently. I am proud of our department, and our thoughts and prayers are with the affected families and the employees who witnessed the incident.

All media inquiries should be directed to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office as they are the lead agency on this case.
