The PLATE Food Pantry at Alfred State College
receives Donation
Belmont, NY – The Allegany
County Democratic Committee (ACDC) delivered eight bags of non-perishable
food and personal care items to The PLATE, a pantry on the campus of Alfred State
College. Donations were collected at the recent “Coffee with Democrats” event
and is one way the Democratic Committee lives its motto: “Serving our Community.”
The PLATE is an
integral component of the Community Needs Hub, which also houses a small thrift
store, and loans equipment for park, trail and community clean-up initiatives.
It is open six days a week on the ground floor of Peet Hall. The Plate provides services through kind
donations from campus and community partners and through the Student Senate,
which has invested in this resource since its inception, recognizing its
benefit to the student population.
Cyan Corwine, Director
of Global Engagement and Civic Wellbeing, says, “It has been a joy to witness and take part in
the evolution of this space and I am proud to have such wonderful student
leaders supporting the operation and management of our Community Needs Hub as
we collectively identify and care for those around us.” Contact civicengagement@alfredstate.edu , ThePlate@alfredstate.edu, or 607.587.4059.
