Post 702 Flag Burning Ceremony

The first national observance of Flag Day was on June 14, 1877; 100 years after the flag resolution was adopted by the Continental Congress.  On June 14th, 2024 Morrison Hayes Wellsville American Legion Family, emceed by Post 702 Commander Yvonne Simmons, with approximately 80 people showed respect to properly dispose of our American Flags that were retired from service during the Flag Day Ceremony.  When the flag is in such a condition that it is no longer fitting for display, the flag's destruction should be dignified. The preferred disposal is by burning.

Special Thanks to Post 702 American Legion, Yvonne Simmons Commander; Post 702 American Legion Color Guard; Escort of Retired Flags, Post 702 American Legion Riders,

Dylan Foust of Olney-Foust Funeral Homes, Wellsville Rod and Gun Club,

Wellsville Fire Department, Post 702 SAL and all that participated in the service.
