Deadly crash in Livonia, 79-year-old bicyclist killed

LIVONIA - Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty advises of a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred in the Town of Livonia. On June 15th, 2024 at approximately 7:38 am, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the intersection of East Lake Road and Big Tree Road in the Town of Livonia after receiving a call reporting that a bicyclist had been struck by a vehicle. Deputies arriving on scene confirmed that a male riding a bicycle was down in the roadway. The male bicyclist was flown from the scene by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester where he later succumbed to his injuries. The preliminary investigation revealed that the male bicyclist, identified as 79-year-old William Eve of Livonia, was riding his bicycle northbound on East Lake Road and did collide with a vehicle while attempting to navigate the intersection with Big Tree Road. No charges were filed against the operator of the vehicle. Investigating for the Sheriff’s Office were members of the Patrol Division, Criminal Investigations Division and the Forensic Identification Unit. Also assisting at the scene was the New York State Police, Livingston County EMS, Livonia Fire Department, Livonia EMS and the Lakeville Fire Department.
