Genesee River drowning investigation continues

From the Sheriff's Office:

Thursday evening, the Allegany County E911 Communications Center received a call of a swimmer that had not resurfaced in the Genesee River near Oramel. Several area Fire, EMS, Law Enforcement agencies including the New York State Police Underwater Dive Team, Allegany County Drone Team, as well as the resources of the Allegany County Office of Emergency Services responded and were involved in this reported drowning incident.
Unfortunately, after hours of searching without success, this is now being transitioned to a recovery effort. The recovery was called off Thursday night. This is still an active scene. Please, do not try to walk, drive, or enter the area. Law Enforcement, Fire and EMS will re-engage in recovery efforts Friday.
Belfast school will have counselors available.
Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers. There will not be further info released at this time.
