Wellsville: Code Enforcement still getting grass complaints

Village of Wellsville Code Enforcement Officer Jo Fenske says her office has been
"inundated with telephone calls" regarding grass complaints. While many people are doing a great job of keeping their lawns mowed and their neighbors happy there are a fair number of folks who are not, Fenske said.  The code office said while most residents do mow the front lawn many are neglecting to mow rear and side yards as well as the tree curb (that area between the sidewalk and street).  Neighbors are complaining that the are having unwanted pests as a result of this situation. Snakes and some of our furry friends love the tall grass and weeds.  The Property Maintenance Code requires that grass and weeds must be kept under the 10” mark in all yards within the Village. Continued code violations can result in legal action and fines.  "The Village would like to avoid having to take this step," Fenske added.
