Flames consumed a tractor trailer hauling asphalt on State Route 244 near County Road 10 in Alfred Wednesday afternoon. Alfred police rolled up on the scene and told 911 “it’s pretty involved.” Equipment responded from Alfred Station, Alfred and Almond. No injuries were reported, but volunteers remained on scene for a bit. As the truck burned, Alfred police also reported a significant water leak that was damaging a street. That impacted the ability to refill fire department tankers.
