PRESS RELEASE
UPDATED- On July 27, 2019 at approximately 4:32 a.m. State Police responded to a one vehicle collision on County Route 13C in the town of Burns, Allegany County. Further investigation revealed that the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee with five occupants traveling east bound on County Route 13C failed to stop for a stop sign at the T-intersection of County Route 13C and County Route 13 traveling through the intersection striking a tree then coming to rest in an earth embankment.
Front seat passenger, Kelsi A. Bird, 16 of Dansville, NY was taken by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital for multiple non-life threatening injuries and was the only person wearing a seat belt during the collision. The operator, Rebecca L. Earner, 16 of Dansville, NY and the other three occupants, Ambra E. Eddleton, 16, Justin D. Carpenter, 14 and Kyrstin L. Wolfanger, 14 all of Dansville, NY, were pronounced at the scene.
Dansville Central School Superintendent Dr. Paul J. Alioto has sent statement out for students and families who are impacted with this tragic loss. Counselors will be at hand to assist in grief sharing. https://www.dansvillecsd.org/
New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Collision Reconstruction Unit, the Dansville Central School Superintendent, Canaseraga, Almond, Nunda Fire Companies, Dansville ALS and Hornell ALS assisted in this investigation.

This is one of the most significant vehicle crashes ever, in Allegany County. In 1995 four people were also initially killed when a car crashed on County Road 28 (East State Ext) in the Town of Wellsville. Killed in that crash, were James A. Morley, 26; Daniel Payne, 28; and Deborah Dibble, 32, all of Wellsville; and Ms. Dibble's brother, Steve, 29, of Worcester, Mass.A fifth person, Russell Stebbins, later succumbed to his injuries.
Also, in April 1949, five men were killed when the vehicle they were in struck a tree in Elm Valley, between Wellsville and Andover.
