PennDOT - District 2 News: Bridge Replacement Starts Next Week in Ceres Township

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that work to replace a bridge in Ceres Township, McKean County will begin on Monday June 17. Replacing the bridge will allow PennDOT to remove it from McKean County’s list of bridges in poor condition. A detour will be in effect during the replacement.
The bridge spans Bell Run on Bell Run Road (Route 1009) near Winger Lane. The bridge will be replaced with a precast concrete bridge and work will get underway June 17, as the bridge is closed, and a detour goes into effect. The 14-mile detour will utilize Taylor Brook Drive, Kings Run Road, and Route 44.
Residents living along Bell Run Road will be able to access their homes. Motorists familiar with the area may choose alternate routes.

All work will be performed by PennDOT McKean County Maintenance, with an expected completion date of July 12. PennDOT will re-open the bridge and lift the detour earlier if work progress allows. The existing bridge is 21-feet long, was built in 1949, and carries an average of 260 vehicles each day.

PennDOT reminds drivers to use caution in all work zones, follow official detour signs, obey posted speed limits, and always buckle up.
