Alfred University history professors Andrew Kless and Gary Ostrower will lead a discussion about the armistice that ended World War I on Sunday, Nov. 11, at 7 p.m. in Herrick Library on the Alfred University campus.
“World War I ground to a bloody end at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month in 1918,” Ostrower said. “Most historians today believe that the war ushered in the modern age, introducing weapons like tanks and planes, political revolution from Russia to Berlin, and ideologies like fascism and communism that defined much of the 20th century.”
Kless is a visiting lecturer in history in the Division of Human Studies, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Ostrower is a professor of history who will mark his 50th anniversary at Alfred University in 2019.
