NEW YORK — Kmart stores in Wellsville and Bath are among 505 locations Sears hopes to auction off to a new owner that could keep the retailers in business.
The documents were filed late Wednesday in the Chapter 11 bankruptcy case of Sears Holding Corp., just ahead of retail shopping’s best day of the year. If the auction goes as Sears hopes, Kmart locations like the ones in Wellsville and Bath did not host their final Black Friday sales this week.
Sears Holdings Corp. has been given the go-ahead to attempt to sell its best-performing stores. Included in the 505 locations up for auction are the Wellsville store on Bolivar Road and the Bath store on Route 415.
