HOUGHTON, NY – An evening of celebration, gratitude, and wonder awaits at Houghton College’s Christmas Prism 2018, “O Night Divine!” The Houghton performance will take place on Saturday, December 1 in Wesley Chapel at 8:00 p.m.
Now in its 12th year, Christmas Prism has evolved to include more than 200 performers, drawing on the college’s rich musical tradition and taking audience members on a musical and visual journey. Vocal and instrumental ensembles – including Houghton College Choir, Men’s and Women’s Choirs, Houghton Symphony Orchestra, and Houghton A Cappella – welcome the Christmas season through a blend of traditional carols, classically inspired pieces, and modern worship songs. Prism 2018 celebrates how, after centuries of waiting-and at just the right time-Christ was born to be an example of how humanity should live, and who heals, redeems, and calls people to live lives of reconciliation and restoration.
“The beauty of Christmas Prism is its ability to draw our student and faculty musicians and audience members together in a mutual celebration of the timeless and powerful message of Christ’s birth,” remarks Dr. Armenio Suzano, dean and director at the Greatbatch School of Music. “With preparations well underway and musicians tuned and ready to perform, we anticipate the message of Christmas Prism 2018 to bring gratitude, joy, and peace.”
