For Anne, the scholarship is an acknowledgement of the
teachers that inspired her interest in the field, and a way for her to
encourage and assist a WCS graduate with an interest in the career she so
enjoyed. “As a teacher” she notes, “I experienced the satisfaction, joys and
challenges of being part of the learning of and growth of students. I wanted to
create a scholarship that would assist a Wellsville graduate in pursuit of a
teaching degree.”
Anne devoted almost thirty-five years to Wellsville Schools,
twenty-four and a half of those teaching grades 3-6 - spending the most years
in 5th grade; she also served for ten years as district wide reading
supervisor.
A graduate of Andover Central School, Anne earned her
bachelor’s degree at Buffalo State College, and her master’s degree at SUNY
Geneseo. She completed her school administrator credential through St.
Bonaventure.
Wellsville seniors take note – you may apply for this award
through the ACAF website once the scholarship application goes live on November
1.
