The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation
from the Bath barracks announces the arrest of a Bath woman regarding an
ongoing investigation into the production, distribution, and sale of
methamphetamine in Steuben County. State
Police arrested Amber R. Crout, age 33, of Bath, NY, and charged her with
Falsifying Business Records, 1st degree (class “E” felony) and Criminal
Possession of Methamphetamine Manufacturing Material in the 2nd Degree (class
“A” misdemeanor). Investigators allege
that during the months of July and August 2018, at various locations in Steuben
County including the Tops Market in the village of Bath, Crout purchased a
pseudoephedrine product in an amount and frequency which exceeded federal
regulations governing the purchase of pseudoephedrine products, with the
knowledge that it would be used to unlawfully manufacture methamphetamine. On an unrelated manner, Crout was also charged with Criminal
Trespass 2nd degree for allegedly unlawfully entering a residence in the town
of Thurston on 10/14/18. At the time of
her arrest, Crout was allegedly found to be in possession of a quantity of suspected
Methamphetamine, and was subsequently charged with Criminal Possession of a
Controlled Substance, 7th degree. Crout
was arraigned before village of Bath Justice Chauncey Watches and remanded to
the Steuben Co. Jail in lieu of $1,000.00 cash bail or $2,000.00 property
bond.
