KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The St. Bonaventure University men's soccer team has earned recognition for success in the classroom from the United Soccer Coaches Association, receiving the organization's Team Academic Award for the second year in a row.
The Bonnies compiled a 3.1 cumulative GPA during the 2017-18 academic year to receive the honor. College Team Academic Award recipients are active members of the United Soccer Coaches College Services Program with a composite grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale for all players on the roster.
St. Bonaventure has also earned recognition from the NCAA by ranking in the top 10 percent of men's soccer teams in the nation for Academic Progress Rate (APR) last year as well. The Bonnies were the only Atlantic 10 men's soccer program to earn APR top 10 percent in the 2015-16 academic season.
"We are very happy to receive this award," head coach Kwame Oduro said. "Our boys have put in a lot of study hall hours as well as a lot of work on the road and in the classroom. So we are very happy to be recognized."
