A three vehicle garage was ruined and a nearby house sustained damage during a Sunday afternoon fire in Wellsville. The buildings were located at 4193State Route 417 in the town. First Assistant Fire Chief Barney Dillie said the initial knockdown happened within minutes using a deck gun from an engine. Fire crews used hand lines to further assist is extinguishing the blaze. Dillie said  a vehicle, motor cycle and garden tractor were inside the garage and were damaged. There were several small explosions, most notably with a plastic gas tank. Vehicle tires also exploded. Eventually, Dillie said  foam was used to smother the fire. The home, located about 30 feet from the garage sustained heat damage to the siding. It was a full department call out, according to the assistant chief, with tankers also called in from Scio Station 2 and Allentown. There were no reported injuries. Dillie said the cause remains under investigation but is not considered suspicious.
