The numbers can get confusing, but Allegany County Treasurer Terri Ross has her fingers crossed. On Wednesday, Ross updated the legislature budget committee on where things stand. She noted that sales tax is up compared to last year by just under $ 800,000. Some of that is due to recalculations by the state. Ross also said the "total revenue received to date for general fund is down about $7 million from we were last year at this time." However, she tells us that..."receipts have been slow and extensions have been granted for filing quarterly claims so...crossing our fingers that we will get at least 80% of that."
