Alfred Ambulance looks to (officially) expand service to Steuben County

REGIONAL EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES COUNCIL Serving Chemung, Schuyler, and Steuben Counties

Re: AE Crandall Hook and Ladder Co. Expansion of Ambulance Territory for the Town of Hartsville, NY, which lies within the boundaries of Steuben County.

The A.E. Crandall Hook and Ladder Co. has provided ambulance service to this area for multiple years but is now required to obtain operating authority. The area of authority is specifically Alfred Station Rd. from town line to Ladis Rd.; Clancy Rd. from town line to Mullen Rd.; Clark Rd. from Crosby Creek Rd. to town line; Crosby Creek Rd. from Alfred town line to Hornellsville town line; Ellis Rd. from Crosby Creek Rd. to Honey Run Rd.; Jenkins Henry Rd. from Ells Rd. for 9/10 mile, Landis Rd. from Crosby Creek Rd. to Clancy Rd.; Martin Rd. from Ells Rd.; Mullen Rd. from town line for 8/10 mile; Post Rd. from town line for 7/10 mile; Woodworth Rd. from Landis Rd. for 6/10 mile.

Special Notice: Due to the COVID Pandemic and NYS social distancing guidelines, the public hearing will be limited to NYS allowable attendance. Due to this limitation, the public hearing will be webcast with a component to allow public comment via the virtual medium. Instructions to participate virtually will also be posted on the Southern Tier EMS Council ҋs website. To allow for an orderly public comment, persons who intend to provide public comment are asked to notify the Regional council by e-mail (systems@stremscouncil.com). As required by Article 30 of the New York State Public Health Law, the Southern Tier Regional EMS Council in cooperation and conjunction with the Southwestern Regional EMS Council (Olean, NY) will be holding a Public Hearing to determine the “public need” for expansion of the A.E. Crandall Hook and Ladder Co. expansion of Ambulance Territory into the town Hartsville, NY as described above.

The two Regional EMS Councils are soliciting comments from any interested parties regarding this matter. The NYS DOH definition of public need is:

THE DEMONSTRATED ABSENCE, REDUCED AVAILABILITY OR AN INADEQUATE LEVEL OF CARE IN AMBULANCE OR EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICE AVAILABLE TO A GEOGRAPHICAL AREA WHICH IS NOT READILY CORRECTABLE THROUGH THE RELOCATION OR IMPROVEMENT OF EXISTING RESOURCES.
