Potter County: Causer Issues Statement on Vote to End State Emergency Declaration

HARRISBURG – Rep. Martin Causer (R-Turtlepoint) issued the following statement after voting in support of House Resolution 836 to end Gov. Tom Wolf’s COVID-19 emergency declaration:

“For three months, citizens across the state have struggled under the governor’s drastic orders to slow the spread of COVID-19. Businesses were shuttered. Unemployment skyrocketed. Displaced workers struggled to obtain unemployment benefits so they could pay their bills and put food on their tables.

“Despite very low rates of COVID-19 in our region, we remained under the governor’s lockdown until finally moving into the ‘green’ level of his phased reopening plan last week. But even ‘green’ is nowhere near normal.

“And then, last week, the governor renewed his emergency declaration for ANOTHER 90 days.

“Enough is enough. Our citizens and businesses are ready, willing and able to reopen and resume their lives in a safe and responsible manner. The governor has ignored the voices of so many people who have struggled; it is time for us to make their voices heard and end the declaration.”
