Firefighters from nine Allegany and Cattaraugus county
departments were pressed into service just after 7 a.m. for a working structure
fire at 599 Abbott Road in Lyndon.
When the first Ischua fire chief arrived, he told 911 dispatchers "be advised we have a fully engulfed barn fire."
Responding to the scene were firefighters from Lyndon,
Ischua, Farmersville, Franklinville, Hinsdale, Machias, Cuba, Rushford and New
Hudson. Multiple water sources were established near the scene. Officials said
the flames were contained within 45 minutes, but crews remained at the scene
for several hours. Utility crews also responded to the fire scene. The Cattaraugus County Fire Investigation Team was also sent to the scene to determine the cause and origin of the blaze.
