Wellsville Village Board considers new local law
The Wellsville Village Board wants to adopt a new local law that would allow it to look beyond Wellsville when hiring village government appointed officials. The move is being fueled by the recent departure of Village Treasurer Earl Johnson. In response, Mayor Randy Shayler Monday night introduced Local Law #7 of 2020 that would essentially erase Local Law #1 of 2017. In a nutshell, the local legislation would modify a residency requirement and allow the village to consider employment candidates from counties that are contiguous to Allegany County. A public hearing on the proposed law will be held at 5:30 p.m. on March 23rd at village offices at 23 North Main Street.
