Cornell University says it’s suspending all in-person classes after spring break

Cornell University says it’s suspending all in-person classes after spring break. All classes will be online for the rest of the semester, allowing students to finish their work away from campus at their permanent homes. Cornell says students currently on campus will receive more information from the housing office in terms of move-out procedures. The Ithaca campus will stay open, meaning faculty and staff can continue to work as normal for now, similar to Syracuse University. Cornell said it is tightening its policies for group events to prohibit all nonessential events of more than 100 people, on and off campus, even when they include only members of the Cornell community. This excludes classroom teaching through March 27. There are currently no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Tompkins County. Syracuse University has taken similar action.
