BREAKING: Wellsville Lions Club cancels 32nd annual Greater Wellsville Trout Derby

Dean Arnold of the Wellsville Lions Club issued the following statement Saturday afternoon:

"The Wellsville Lions Club fishing derby scheduled for April 25-26 has been cancelled due to the NYS ban on events with 500 or more people. We will refund all preregistrations we have received. We apologize for any inconvenience. The Wellsville lions Club will release more information at a later date."
Organizers said the Derby was canceled due to the expanding COVID-19 virus outbreak. Also on Saturday, Gov. Cuomo announced the first death in New York related to the virus outbreak. On Friday, President Donald Trump declared the coronavirus pandemic a national emergency.
