Wellsville: Alfred State says House 55 is for sale

The 55th house that Alfred State College students have built for the Wellsville community is now on the market.
Located at 3867 Foundation Drive in Wellsville, the house offers 1,769 square feet of living space, plus a 450-square-foot attached garage. Features include three bedrooms, two bathrooms, an office space, covered front and back porches, a backyard patio, a walkout basement with egress windows, central air conditioning, soapstone and granite solid surface countertops throughout, and ceramic tiles in the entry, kitchen, and bathrooms. The house also includes a one-year warranty from the time of purchase.
Jack Jones, chair of the Building Trades Department, said, “This new home has been a great applied learning project for our students. It demonstrates the quality of education our faculty are committed to. Students have accomplished everything from the site work to the interior finishes on this home. They have done an outstanding job. Whoever ends up purchasing this property will be getting a high-quality home that is in a prime location, energy efficient, and beautiful.”
Students in the building trades: building construction; masonry; heavy equipment operations; electrical construction and maintenance electrician; and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) programs all had a hand in the construction. Work on the house began once the groundbreaking took place in the fall of 2017 and wrapped up this fall. The house is currently for sale at $234,500.
The houses Alfred State students regularly build for the community, valued at more than $250,000, take two years to complete, and are then subsequently sold on the open market and occupied.
Students build and detail the houses in a subdivision owned by the Educational Foundation of Alfred, Inc., a private foundation dedicated to improving the Alfred State community through the support of educational programs. The Educational Foundation funds the construction of the houses.
