TOWN OF ALFRED “TOWN TALK”
Highlights of the December 12, 2019 Town Board Meeting
Dan Acton, Supervisor
Jerry Snyder, Eagle Scout Project, Armstrong, and NYSEG
The town board meeting commenced in festive style as we
recognized retiring board member Jerry Snyder. He first served the town on the
board of assessment review, then twelve years on the town board. In recognition
of this he was presented a plaque, a card signed by the board members, and cake
which was enjoyed by everyone present. Thank you, Jerry.
Noah Napolitano presented his latest information on the
design and materials for a mural on the side of the town garage. He plans to
complete this by April 2020 and board member Matthew Snyder is working with
Noah to coordinate this project.
Armstrong Communications representative Rachel Marzo gave an
update on the status of the fiber cable they are installing throughout the
town. She anticipates they will be ready for hook ups in January 2020 and
encouraged residents interested in a hook up visit their website.
Town resident Fred Sinclair presented information on the
electromagnetic environment in the valley. He has been measuring this in the
village and on both campuses and reported that readings are high but probably
within FCC guidelines. He expressed concern over possible negative effects of
the tower proposed at the NYSEG substation and recommended we follow the
precautionary principle when considering a building permit for this tower. The
board agreed to request a SEQR evaluation when NYSEG applies for a building
permit.
