CANISTEO - Thomas F. Crane, 75, of Purdy Creek Road, passed away at Elderwood At Hornell on Saturday (Dec. 14, 2019).
Born in Corning NY, May 16, 1944, the son of Francis and Pruda LaBar Crane, he
was a graduate of Troupsburg Central School, He had resided in the Town of Canisteo since 1964.
Tom had been employed by the New York State Electric and Gas Corporation
until his retirement.
Throughout his life, Tom was an avid outdoorsman. Early on, he enjoyed snowmobiles and Harley Davidson motorcycles. Being a master of many trades, he had a lifelong passion for cars and trucks which led to numerous light to full frame off restorations. This passion led into antique tractors, especially John Deere. He built the "Killer B" which was notoriously successful for years on the two cylinder pulling circuit. He also had an extensive hit and miss motor collection as well. For 40+ years he bought and sold antique parts and memorabilia and was a vendor at all major events. Throughout the years Tom and Pat were involved in many clubs and organizations that supported all these endeavors. They both enjoyed attending Woodhull Raceway and supporting local race teams as well as attending local sporting events. Time spent with his family was important to him. He was a devoted grandfather.
He was predeceased by his parents and his wife; the former Patricia Trowbridge to
whom he was married on November, 14, 1964. Pat passed away on October 28,
2018.
He is survived by his daughters; Andrea (Scott) Burdick of Canisteo, and Dianna
(Charles) Cecala of Myrtle Beach, his sons; Allan (Laura) Crane of California and
Eric (Alicia) Crane of Rochester, four grandchildren; Alaina and Kylan Burdick,
Meggin Stewart and Courtney Cecala, two great grandchildren; Mason and Noah.
