A criminal trial will be held Thursday in Amity Town Court for Kenneth Basile of Wellsville, a former Environmental Conservation Officer serving Allegany County. Basile was arrested by State Police Investigators last October and charged with official misconduct and obstructing governmental administration. The charges stem from an investigation that involved drug cases in 2014 and 2015 in Allegany County. District Attorney Keith Slep confirmed this morning that the trial will begin Thursday at 11 a.m. He said Assistant DA Mike Finn will be prosecuting the case.
Slep, DEA Buffalo, Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force and the State Police CNET assisted in the investigation. The DEC said in a statement to us that Basile was suspended without pay in late 2015. Basile became a DEC officer in September 1999.
