Wellsville: ACAF Grant Supports Howe Library Project

The Allegany County Area Foundation (ACAF) recently presented a $500 grant to the David A. Howe Library in Wellsville for the reupholstering of the Library’s armchairs. Original to the building (1937), the chairs are found primarily in the Library’s Local History Room, which houses historical and genealogical records, and serves as a meeting place for organizations and groups from throughout the area. The chairs have been redone with a look that’s in keeping with their 1930s vintage.
The grant was provided by the Foundation’s Allegany Fund, an unrestricted endowment that allows ACAF to assist local non-profit organizations as they serve the public.
The largest public library in Allegany County and a member of the Southern Tier Library System, the David A. Howe Library holds over 110,000 items in its collection and is a New York State Document Depository.
The Allegany County Area Foundation holds over $9M in assets and manages over 50 scholarship and grant programs. If you are interested in establishing a grant or scholarship fund or contributing to an existing fund, please contact ACAF at 585-296-5616. Donations are tax deductible.
