Born January 8, 1953, in Wellsville, he was the son of Jack T. and Eleanor R. Lynn Coats.
A graduate of Wellsville High School, he served honorably with the US Marine Corps from 1970 - 1973. Dan was employed at Cook’s Tire & Automotive Center in Wellsville, becoming the owner in 2004 until his retirement.
He was a member of the Wellsville American Legion Post 702, the Wellsville VFW Post 2530, and the Marine Corps League.
Surviving are: two brothers, Eldyn “Skip” (Sue) Coats of Milton, FL and Dennis Coats of Panama City Beach, FL; a sister, Lori Acker of Wellsville; several nieces and nephews, including his close nephews, Darrin and Dane Coats.
He was predeceased by his parents; two sisters, Melanie Folts and Susan Coats; and a brother, David M. Coats.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 24, 2025 at 12:00 Noon in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellsville. A gathering to celebrate his life will follow at the Wellsville Bible Church.
Memorials may be made to the Wellsville American Legion or the Wellsville VFW.
