Allegany County: State Trooper hurt, second wounded in
wild incident in Bolivar
UPDATE: State Police Public Information Officer James O'Callaghan says the trooper stabbed in Bolivar has "serious, but non life threatening injuries." Two troopers were later rushed for advanced care in Rochester.
Allegany County 911 issued a ‘radio silence’ order after one
trooper was hurt and a second sustained a facial injury following a wild scene on
Plum Street in the village of Bolivar. To be clear, these are from radio
reports that WRN monitors. It began shortly after 3 p.m. with a female accused of stealing
a vehicle. The suspect, allegedly attempted to steal one vehicle without
success, but was able to steal the second vehicle. This led to a wild scene in
Bolivar. Multiple troopers responded. Then the radio announcement: "shots fired." Radio reports indicated one trooper was hurt, a second sustained a facial injury. Both troopers were rushed to UR Jones
Memorial in Wellsville while the female was sent to Olean General. Medical
Transport medics interfaced with the state police who were rushing the trooper
to the hospital in a patrol vehicle. Wellsville and Belmont police shut down the intersection on
Genesee Parkway so the trooper car could rush the shot officer to Jones
Memorial. As of this posting, it remains a chaotic scene. Both Bolivar and
Richburg ambulances were called to the scene to render aid.
