Chickens come home to roost in Wellsville
After a one-on-one with Wellsville Mayor Randy Shayler
Monday afternoon, Wellsville Regional News learned that chickens are coming
home to ‘roost’ in Wellsville. Mr. Shayler explained that in a unanimous vote,
the village board approved “The Keeping of Chickens, Local Law #4 2025.” In
short, Shayler said the law takes effect June 1st. It permits a
maximum of six chickens on a village property, but NO roosters. Permitting is
required, the mayor said. Soon, the new Local Law will be published here.
