BATH – The Steuben County Public Health Department received notification of the death of an individual who had previously tested positive for COVID-19. This brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in Steuben County to 51. The individual was a 71-year-old female resident of Corning Center. “COVID-19 has cruelly cut short the life of another Steuben resident,” said Public Health Director, Darlene Smith. “I urge our residents to take this seriously. We must do everything possible to slow the spread and stop the death toll.”
BATH – The Steuben County Public Health Department received
notification that 35 Steuben County residents tested positive for
COVID-19. This brings the total to 548
confirmed cases, 185 of which are currently active. The individuals are residents of the:

The individuals are isolated and being monitored by the
County Health Department. Public Health
staff investigated and identified close contacts of the confirmed cases and
exposure risks. All those known to have
direct contact with the individuals have been notified.
Per CDC and New York State Department of Health guidance,
information is collected beginning 48 hours prior to symptom onset or date of
test if asymptomatic through the day of the positive test result to identify
any potential exposure risks.
The investigations indicate:
· Four
individuals are residents of Corning Center
· Nine
individuals are employees of Corning Center
· Three
individuals work for various ambulance services
· Three individuals are employees of Upstate
Farms Cheese in Campbell
· Nine
individuals had contact with known positives
· One
individual is a student at Frederick Carder Elementary School
· One
individual is an employee of Addison School District
Public Health coordinated with the Corning-Painted Post and
Addison School Districts to identify and quarantine impacted students and
staff.

“Now is not the time to have parties, go to bars or
restaurant with a group, go on wine tours or generally gather with a number of
people from outside your household,” said Public Health Director, Darlene
Smith. “COVID-19 is spreading at an uncontainable rate in Steuben and
surrounding counties. We need your help
to stop this.”
