“Our campaign has been closely monitoring the situation
around the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and I wanted to personally let you know my
thoughts are with all those impacted and feeling vulnerable at this time,” she
said. “Our team has taken every measure possible to ensure that we keep our
neighbors and ourselves healthy and safe. We have replaced our town halls and
house parties with virtual gatherings and our staff is all working remotely.”
Mitrano announced that her campaign will be moving forward
with online options in which her supporters and those following the campaign
can connect with her and receive updates. To adapt to the changing landscape of
political campaigns she announced that they will be forming a Volunteer Tech
Support team to help supporters and others access upcoming virtual events and
conversations.
Mitrano also stated that in the coming weeks she will
restart discussions on the many layers of politics that she sees surrounding
this crisis, from the funding and staffing of federal agencies to food
insecurity of children and the disparity of access to high speed internet. But,
she added, “For the moment, let’s count our blessings, hold our loved ones
close, support our friends and neighbors and settle into our temporarily
isolated lives.”
She concluded by letting community members know that her
campaign is willing to serve as a resource if needed. “If you, or someone you
know, is in need of resources to get by during this difficult time - there are
organizations and government agencies out there to help. While our campaign
resources are limited, we would like to do anything we can to help our friends
and neighbors during this time: feel free to reach out to us at
help@mitrano2020.com and we’ll do our best to help or put you in contact with someone
who can.”
